About

Dr Jane Peckham BA.MBBS.MRCGP.DCH.DRCOG. DipFSRH. Cert Medical Ultrasound, Advanced Certificate of Menopause Care

I have been a GP for 27 years. I was brought up in Cowes before leaving to study medicine at Oxford and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. I subsequently became a GP partner in Alton, Hampshire where I spent 24 years. Though having always been actively involved with women’s health provision, I have become passionate about how much potential there is to improve the health and wellbeing of women in their post reproductive years. Recently I have focussed my professional development in this area culminating in the award of the Advanced Certificate of Menopause Care.

The Advanced Certificate of Menopause Care is awarded by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, which is part of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It is evidence of specialist training such as is required to lead a menopause service. In October 2020 there were only 147 registered menopause specialists in the UK.

In 2019 the opportunity to work more flexibly arose and my husband and I moved back to the Island. Now I plan to divide my professional time between locum work in general practice and developing the private Wight Menopause practice.
